LAFONT now dresses professional excellence by signing a partnership with the COET-MOF and the “Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France” competition. 230 trades in 17 professional categories will be equipped with our brand.
To inaugurate this partnership, on the occasion of the medal ceremony of the 26th competition on May 13, 2019 at the Sorbonne, the best craftsmen in their field were presented with their diploma and medal in LAFONT attire with the tricolor collar.
It’s a bit like going back to your roots. Coet-MOF naturally chose Lafont to dress the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France because the brand has been the absolute reference in work clothing for 175 years.
By becoming a partner of this prestigious competition, Lafont, which has been strongly involved in the world of craftsmanship since its origins, is reaffirming the values that have made it a success: a taste for work well done, high standards, the beauty of the gesture, transmission, and the excellence of French-style manual work.
Since 1844.
“This is a great recognition for the brand, which thus reaffirms its commitment to the excellence of French craftsmanship and it is with pride that our colors will accompany these great professionals. We are happy to be able to dress the best in each category awarded by the MOF competition. The Best Workers of France will be the brand ambassadors!”
– Alexandra Avram, Brand Manager at Lafont

It is in the city of Le Mans that Isabelle, then 14 years old, obtained her CAP, then her BP and her master's degree. Isabelle managed several boutiques before becoming a trainer. Multiplying the rewards, her talent is very quickly recognized and she becomes the only Master Florist of Vendée.

Lafont claims to be the inventor of the indigo blue cotton moleskin jacket, designed to be washed and last indefinitely. This basic that all workers have known and magnificently worn by Jean Gabin in the film La Bête humaine, is generalized at the end of the nineteenth century in the automotive industry and in coal factories. The main qualities of the jacket are that it is comfortable, strong and easy to wash, resistant to flames, burns, snags, soot… In addition, it has tool pockets. Among the Compagnons du Tour de France and du Devoir, no one is unaware of the Lafont blue work coat, whose patterns are jealously preserved in the Lyon workshops and are reproduced identically.
Born in 1844 in Lyon under the impulse of the European industrial boom of the 19th century, Lafont has crossed the ages without a wrinkle and remains to this day the most beautiful house of utilitarian clothing. It all started with the design of clothing for carpenters or stone cutters of the “Compagnons du tour de France”, it was necessary to supply the growing demand for practical, resistant and functional clothing. That’s how Mr. Lafont invented the overalls, without suspecting that they would be passed down through the generations. He designed the first carpenter’s pants with technical innovations that would make them a success: pockets for storing tools, soft and resistant cotton, easy maintenance. He then designed and popularized the “largeot”, work pants in different colors depending on the trade: black for carpenters and roofers, brown for carpenters, beige for stonemasons… It was also in Lafont’s Lyon workshops that the famous solidly made overalls with a ruler pocket were born, concealing the subtleties of a well thought-out pattern. This cult garment has been around the world and remains a must-have.
Lafont is the French leader in multi-sector professional clothing, ranging from construction to arts and crafts, industry, the kitchen, hotel and restaurant industry and health. Its unique know-how, its industrial background, its technical expertise and its style have always put it at the forefront. Integrated into the CEPOVETT family group since 2016, Lafont is writing a new page in its history by reaffirming its positioning as a top-of-the-range, multi-specialist brand capable of providing innovative and global solutions to users
